The SUMPRODUCT function sums up the products of a range of cells. We want to find the total price of the entire warehouse, that is, the sum of each ware’s price times its quantity.
We’ll type in SUMPRODUCT, and we now need to select the ranges of cells we want to multiply. The calculation can be read out as “3×200 + 4×50” and so on.
We see that the result is 2200 for the entire warehouse.
One thing to note is that the dimensions of each range must be the same as the other. Otherwise the function will encounter an error.
Any empty or non-numeric cells will be considered a zero in the calculation.
In this lesson we have shown the SUMPRODUCT function, which sums up the products of a range of cells.
